The Horse Power Group featuring PluckyWize®
Join the adventure in courage and creativity at a beautiful, rustic ranch setting!
This ONE OF A KIND group combines nature-based experiential learning, Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) and the creative Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach of PluckyWize® to help your child develop increased insight, problem-solving skills, greater confidence, and tools for managing anxiety.
What: An experiential learning and creative skill-building group for children ages 8–12.
- Designed to help children set brave goals and learn to identify & modify the thoughts, feelings and behaviors that create obstacles to achieving these goals.
- Designed to help your child build a “toolbox” of effective coping strategies for managing anxiety and regulating emotions.
- This group’s unique incorporation of horses and nature creates opportunities to practice self-regulation & interpersonal skills in a real life setting. (We will not be riding but we will learn to partner with horses while on the ground doing skill-building exercises. No previous horse experience is required).
Participants will receive Pluckywize® Imaginal Mastery Maps and educational materials to help each child stay on the trail to Mastery Mountain.
Where: The Golden Gate Dairy Stables in Muir Beach, only 15 min from Mill Valley yet it feels worlds away surrounded by the beauty and peace of nature in the heart of the Golden Gate National Recreational Area (GGNRA).
When: Thursdays 4:15-5:45: September 20, 27, October 4, 11, 18, 25, November 1
In this ongoing group we will be building on the skills learned each week, so a commitment to all seven (7) sessions is required for all participants. Parents will be participating in the last session of the group (November 1) in order to promote generalized learning and ongoing application of concepts and goals.
See you at the Bravery Box Workshop!
Rate: $160/group, includes snacks, materials, insurance & ranch fees. The total cost for the group is $1280: 7 group sessions plus a 50 minute intake session with parents to review history and map out goals. The intake can be via phone or in person (at our Corte Madera office).
Fees are paid in advance and are non-refundable. The group is limited to 8 participants and each must be pre-approved by the facilitators. Please contact us with questions or to schedule a brief phone call to ensure suitability.
Wear: Layers and closed-toe shoes. The weather on the coast can change quickly from foggy & cool to sunny & warm. Because we will be interacting with horses and doing quite a bit of walking, boots or shoes appropriate for hiking should be worn.
Logistics: We will arrange connections for carpooling for those interested. The beautiful setting of the ranch also offers parents an opportunity to visit “Mindful Meadow” during our group time: take a walk on one of the many trails in the surrounding GGNRA, visit nearby Muir Bear and listen to the waves, or have a cup of tea at the Pelican Inn across the street… we also have Wifi available at the ranch if you need to work.
